Lorri-d
Hiya, My two new Bantam Orps seem to have both laid 2 eggs a day, is this normal? Yesterday one of them laid 2 eggs and today I have another two eggs, both sets of eggs were very different which makes me think that they hadn't laid one each. Yesterdays were smooth and the same shape, size and colour and todays eggs both had little calcium bumps on and are a different colour and size. Very odd as I didnt think it was normal for orps to lay everyday yet alone 2 a day! Do hens eggs generally look the same? Also one of the hens has made such a racket all day. The first time I went out and collected her egg which seemed to sort it then she started up again this afternoon, I was quite surprised to find another egg! is it normal for a hen to announce her eggs so verbally? daxigirl
Yep they love to tell the world. Do you mean that 1 hen laid 2 eggs in 24 hours? If so Wow that's some going. No wonder they're announcing it!
Lorri-d
Hi daxigirl, Yes I think they did there were two eggs the same shape and size one day and then two completely different but identical (if you know what I mean) ones the next day! one of the hens eggs seems to have calcium deposits on at the moment so am pretty sure whos is whos. Very strange
