lixi
Hiya Earlier in the year we had to take one of our hens to the vets because one day she just sat inside and didn't eat or drink anything and wasn't being as feisty as she usually is and was blinking a lot. We were given antibiotics for her and she perked right up and has been eating and drinking and in good spirit since . But since then she's layed a lash, and her eggs are either soft, broken or very weak shelled eggs. Sometimes it doesn't even look like there is a shell. Is there any reason this could be happening? or anything we can do to get her eggs back to normal? because she used to be our number one layer and now we're having to clean the nest box out every day and getting through a lot of straw. Dolly
I used Zolcal D when one of our hens had similar problems. It's a liquid calcium supplement you add to their drinking water for about 5 days max (not for long term use as too much calcium is as bad as too little I understand). You can get it on the internet if you Google it. Hope she gets better soon.
