jojo2910
Hi, We have 3 chickens and 2 ducks and need some help with winter hosuing arrangements. The chickens have been here 6 months and the ducks 2 months. Prior to the ducks arrival, no issues with the chickens going into the coop. When the ducks arrived, we had to help them into the coop and they sleep in the nest boxes. Unfortunately we are finding that they were staying in the boxes too long and when the chickens want to lay the ducks are still there and there have been fights. As such the ducks are very reluctant to go into the coop. On the nights we don't help them into the coop the ducks sleep outside. Is there a way for them to all get on in the same coop? My husband suggested that we board up the bottom run of the coop so the ducks have somewhere to go, but I worry that the chickens will take it over and sleep downstairs and we'll be no better off. All help appreciated x
zoejames
Hiya sadly ducks and chickens don't share the same sleeping quarters very well as they have very different requirements. Unless you can provide the ducks with a sleeping area and the chickens with a perching area that are seperate you may have to get them somewhere of their own. What set up do you have for them perhaps you can convert as your hubby suggested on a short term basis to see how it works? zo x
