Shelley Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 I let my three girls out yesterday morning and one plopped out a shell-less egg right at my feet. I then looked in the nesting box and found another one in there. Not a sign of any shell - almost frying pan ready. Not sure if it's one or two girls responsible, but do I have a problem? I don't know how old your girls are, but this is not uncommon in hens at the beginning or end of their laying career, it can happen while they are moulting as well. There are a few things you could add to their feed - limestone flour, or you can bake eggshells if you have any, crunch them up and mix into their pellets - either of these will help to boost their calcium intake.
