Joolz1965
We have one original hen - Holly who is now around 3 and have recently introduced 3 new hens. These have started laying now but we have abit of a crowd control issue with the nesting box - we havean Eglu Classic. I popped down the garden today to check how they were getting on, holly was sitting on Tikka and Heather was squashed in to the side! Does anyone have a suggestion on an alternative nesting box that I can pop into the Eglu when a similar occurrence happens
windway
I have a cat carrier (the type you use to take pets to the vet) as an extra laying area for when this happens. One of mine is happy to lay in the sand dustbath! Hope that helps
munkee1965
I have 4 in an Eglu go and this happens alot with 3 of them The other lays much later in the afternoon so gets the nest to herself. I just leave them to get on with it and they seem to sort it out for themselves.
JS1
Mine (11 hens, 10 laying) have a whole Cube and Eglu Classic to choose from, but still fight over one tiny corner in the Cube - no idea why; there's plenty of room elsewhere. So even if you produced an alternative they might still ignore it!
