groovydad
I was given a dozen goldtop eggs 4 months ago and managed to hatch 8, 6 have now survived and are doing fine. The only problem I have is that i was told Goldtops are sex linked and that the Males come out white, the females gold. Problem number one is that they look more Pure Silkie than goldtop and as a result it hasn't been so easy to sex them. They are all gold but two of them are displaying prominant red wattles and combs that none of the others have developed so I'm thinking boys. The rest, I have no idea. Some have female posture and build but then have the classic boy hair of a silkie. I'm usually pretty good at spotting boys in pure Silkies but the mixed genes have really muddied the waters. Any ideas? if you click on the pic and go to flickr i have numbered them to make it easier. IMAG0014 by Dylan's mum, on Flickr
