sandyhas3chucks
20-24 weeks old just starting to lay, crouching first few from 2 very thin shells, one girl seems a bit ahead of the other and eggs are beautiful. the other one remain thin shelled. One , the good one is Hybrid Black Rock, the other Hybrid Light Sussex. The black one also eats like there is going to be a famine tomorrow the other eats well just not as manically... I think I read that their eggs can be iffy when they first start. I also had one very thin but complete that had yolk over the outside of the shell.?? sandyhas3chucks
Since posting this and reading other posts I am reasonable sure this is fine. The good laying girls shells are really strong and hard... We had 2 good eggs from the Light Sussex X then she laid a soft one again the same evening yesterday and there is yet another one this morning which might be her or her sister..???? I feel this may well ALSO be due to this weather???? I really hope for her health she settles down. She seems in the best of health so trying not to be a worry wart... Carrot
One of our girls is doing this too but we can't work out if it's the Sussex Light or the White Star. She will lay one normal egg then 2 or 3 softies. I worried myself sick by googling and found egg drop syndrome but all three of my girls have been vaccinated so I'm hoping that it's due to their age.
