suehiggi
Hello, I have just started with my eglu and have three eight week old pekin bantam chicks. They seem to be settling in well but I am not sure what is the best food for them. The lady I got themon said to give them mixed corn and chick crumbs., but i have been reading on the forum that people are using layers pellets.Whats the difference. Also are they too small to be giving them any treats yet? and any advice on what they could have. They seem so small and I don't want to upset their tummys. It's all new at the moment and I don't want to do any thing wrong!! Thanks for any help. Gertrude Blinky Nell
hasnett
i'm sure someone with more experience will be along soon, but mine were on chick crumbs, they are now on growers pellets and at 18 weeks onwards they will be on layers pellets...mine are really fussy about treats, they won't eat anything except, ants, spiders, baby slugs and they go mad for meal worms...i have tried them on tinned rinsed sweetcorn and peas, pasta, rice etc...but they won't touch it. Waht did hte breeder advise?
suehiggi
Thanks alot. I will try the pellets when they get to 18 weeks. The breeder just said mixed corn - nothing about any supplements. I was concerned incase they needed extra vitamins or something. Tried some sweetcorn and they seemed to like it. Just hope it doesn't upset their tummys! Can I ask do your bantams run free? If they do , have they caused much distructionof the garden? Thanks again - such early days and lots to learn. which they have to be put in every night!
