SylvisMum
Hi Omlet forum folk I have another query for you if you have any ideas. Cleaning my fridge this morning, I "rediscovered" a jug of fat that I saved after roasting the turkey at Christmas which would actually be a mixture of the turkey fat and butter I used to baste it with. Apart from doing roast spuds, has anyone got any ideas about how I could use it up or recipes? I don't tend to encourage birds into the garden to feed as we have a cat (Sylvi) who is an adorable cat but loves hunting. Anyone made pastry with stuff like this? Not keen on the idea of making soap with it as it has rather a strong turkey aroma. I have around 350 grams.
majorbloodnock
If it has a reasonable proportion of butter, you could always try using it in shortcrust pastry for a chicken and something pie.
SylvisMum
Thank you for your reply, Major- I have boiled the fat with some water to get rid of any bits, and I will freeze the fat to use in pastry and maybe to put in savoury bread recipes.
