pianogirl79 Posted April 12, 2013 Share Posted April 12, 2013 Hello everyone, I've only had chooks for 6 months and am looking for some advice on our oldest girl Salty. I think she is a Sussex breed (adopted her from a neighbours daughter so not sure from what I can tell from google, white with a black ring aroudn her neck and black tail tip. She's approx 2.5 years old and up until a month ago laid 5-6 eggs a week but has now stopped completely. Someone told me that Sussex hens only lay till they're about 3 anyway so could it just be old age? I was expecting egg count to tail off gradually not just stop completely - is that right? Just wanting to work out if I should be treating her not laying as a symptom of something more sinister. She's been wormed recently, is bright and alert, as active as normal with a good appetite so not sure what else it could be.... Thanks for any advice!
