My new walk in run is being delivered on Saturday and am thinking of painting the wood. If I do how long would I have to wait before putting the girls inside. The paint says it dries within the hour, but don't want the fumes to be harmful for the girls. Any advice would be great, thanks x

Hi what kind of paint are you going to use? If your using water based then you should be fine after an hour or so depending on weather conditions, oil based i would leave it for a lot longer than that

If your using good quality exterior paint ie sikkens, liberon etc it should tell you on the tin if its safe for use with animals

Even if the wood has been treated previously it would probably only been dipped so the stain/preservative wouldn't have penetrated the wood far enough to cause you any problems the best way round it if the wood has been treated just rub over with sandpaper 80-120 grit preferable then you will give the wood a "key" for your paint, do 2-3 coats to start off with then around sept/oct the year after give it another coat then that should keep the wood protected you should only really have to recoat once a year as the wood will dry out over the summer months
