fletch
We have a small flock of various breeds all laying similar mid brown medium sized eggs. We would like a bit more variety & larger sized eggs, so we're considering increasing the size of our flock slightly by adding some larger egg laying breeds but unsure which ones would be a good choice. The other thing is our coup is half full, the idea being to add another half a dozen birds when our current birds laying slows down. My next question is 'do hens lay throughout the entirety of their life'? We don't really want to end up later on with a coup full of birds which aren't laying which is why we thought we'd stock it half full now & say add more birds in four years time to fill it up & maintain egg production, so do we wait or add more hens now?
