jomaxsmith
Hi Debbie, Are you giving them too many treats? To lay at their best they need just pellets/mash and water. Also, it's hard to tell from your message (type sloooowly for us, we get easily confused ) if all your hens are laying. The days are lengthening now so would expect them to be laying more not less than before. Is the person who sold you the 'fab laying' Leghorn the same person who tried to sell you overpriced and unsuitable hens when you were an absolute beginner? I'd take it with a pinch of salt! My Leghorn hybrid took several months after I got her before she laid every day. Jo
debbie26pet
sorry about the rambling, sometimes i get 5 mins, to write something, before i get 4 kids wanting or arguing etc, so soemtimes i rush , like now ive sat got to here and they arguing now believe it or not over the garge door treats the kids give them corn every day at night before tucking in or pasta once a week, or tin corn etc im thinking it could still be to much??? maybe couple times a week only? thsi bird was sold to me by a lady of another chicken site and im not convinced what she told me now over this bird. i have 6 birds 2 not quiet laying silki and rir. 1 lays every day no fail buff, another very new to laying rir and one that feel slike it (leghorn) my wyndotty has gone broody on one day i would get 3-4 eggs then another day get just 1. last few days just getting one of the buff. so i think best plan is just laying pellets and water then treat 2-3 times a week at the most?? i just been to get my auboise and was told layers aint hte best for them change to mix corn, then told to mix the mixed corn wiht the layers pellets sorry im so confused by it all
