Swinnys Hinny Posted April 22, 2008 Share Posted April 22, 2008 We have borders with medium sized shrubs and bamboo and some grasses. They do tend to scratch the soil onto the grass, but 5 minutes spent brushing soil back into the beds (with a hard bristled broom) and then raking over the holes has it looking nice again. We are thinking of putting a row of block paving around the edge to stop the edges from getting eroded and to make this easier. I'm sure the neighbours have a laugh at us brushing the lawn but we seem to be striking a happy medium of free ranging vs nice garden We have also found giving them quarter of a cabbage to peck at keeps them busy and means we have less to clear up Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Olly Posted April 23, 2008 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Ditto - I am lucky enough to have a large garden with established shrubs, so they don't do too much damage, but I think restricting free-ranging is the only way to preserve your garden.
