gavinsmith
Hi, I have a slightly old black east indian duck who has started to lay eggs. However, all three so far have been soft shelled eggs that she lays on the lawn rather than in the duck house. 2 questions, a, why is she laying the eggs on the lawn? does she know that the egg will be soft and therefore doesn't lay it in a nest for brooding? b, given that i have roughly about 3 weeks(15eggs) of laying time left, can i do anything to improve the shell. She gets regular pellets along with corn for feed. I addition, i have been sprinkling crushed calcium tablets over the food for the past few months. They're both free range in our medium sized garden with a pond and house for shelter. Any ideas???
