Gallina
But you can have a show garden and a hen garden if you make a permanent base for your hens! You cannot have a nice garden if you move the run about; but if your garden matters to you, just keep the hens in one place. I am afraid I am extremely fussy about my garden (and am even worse than usual because I am opening under the National Gardens Scheme for the first time this year), but I also love my hens. I keep an area of grass growing just for repairs, and when they do dig a hole in the lawn I just fill it with a new piece of turf immediately. Most of the time, however, they just graze, and I never have to use the lawnmower any more, which is a big plus. And I am convinced it was the hens that helped me pass the Yellow Book test, as the people who came to assess the garden last July loved them.
