Easibed Plus - secret ingredient FYI

Recommended Posts

A few days ago, I was on a discussion about bedding that I can no longer find, but... I had just placed an order for Easibed Plus bedding, not the regular stuff, which no one else seemed to have used and was concerned that whatever made it "plus" (the anti-fly/bugs/etc ingredient) might not be safe for chickens.

Just as an fyi for anyone who wanted a follow up: the supplier I ordered from, Green Mule, contacted the makers of Easibed Plus. They say that they are not divulging their secret ingredient, but that they do consider it safe for chickens.

Hi Egg Lou,

I did try getting Organic pellets over a year ago from CWF in Twyford. The chap at the till told me they were organic but when I got home I realised he'd sold me normal GM free ones. The organic ones were out of stock regularily and in the end I just use the non-org GM free ones from the Tack Shop now.

But you could ring CWF and ask about organic pellets. There's one in Twyford and I think one in Thatcham probably a bit nearer for you.

Thanks for help Hen Watch..

I'll bear it in mind but at the moment Stuart at Eileen Douglas can order organic from The Organic Feed Company. He will also deliver to their Old Basing saddlery which is round the corner from me and the other Basingstoke Omleteers so works out very easy!

Thanks for the thought tho :D

I didn't know that......thank you.

When I pop into their shop, the board behing the till just says Layers Pellets and gives the price for the non-Org ones, it doesn't mention Org option. I shall have to ask now I know. Thanks for the tip Egg Lou.

Egg Lou & Hen Watch,

Thanks for the info.

Oh yes, I know of the tack shop in Wokingham, but I am not yet a legal driver in the UK (a humble expat, me, used to the other side of the road), so I tend to order things online quite a lot. But now that I realise that postage for a pack of bedding is more than the bedding itself, I won't be doing that again. I will get a ride over from the husband or a friend next time and try to the Aubiose.

Thanks.
