Woodchick
The very good news is that my Miss P has produced 2 small but perfect eggs yesterday and today. 34 and 38 g respectively. The bad news is that she has taken to pecking me very hard indeed! Yesterday was a toe and today a finger - both were bleeding. She jumps like a Harrier jump jet to peck at fingers. All three took food my hand very early on (had them three weeks tomorrow) but it doesn't look like I have done myself any favours. I don't really want to wear gardening gloves and wellies to visit - any ideas?
jomaxsmith
Stop giving them food from your hands - use a brightly coloured bowl instead and they should eventually realise that food comes in bowls not hands! I'd go with the wellies and gloves for a while until they get the idea! Jo PS Well done Miss P

Olly
Ouch! I was scared to put my hands in the run when I first got my chooks. They definitely settled down though, I don't know if it's age or hormones, they only peck me now if they think I have got food in my hands. i recommend the treat bowl idea suggested by Jo.
