Had a bloomin awful weekend and today hasn't been much better. Just about had enough really but then I went out to chekc on the girls they all crowded round me clucking away (and I had no food either!) I've been making sure they all get picked up every day for a cuddle and a stroke and they seem to come for it now. It was lovely to just cuddle the little feathery things and give them their stroke. Very calming and then just listening to their clucking. They seem very excited today - I think it might be the wind, do anyone elses get more clucky in the wind?

I'm turning into one of those chicken mad people who join internet forums now aren't I???

Hee! Hee! You think you've got problems?? This forum takes up most of my spare time and we havent even got chooks yet!! I keep telling my OH 'knowledge is power'.....Im not sure he's convinced and my kids think I'm extremely sad!! lol!

Snap....... 1 year on and hubbie still thinks I'm sad where chickens are concerned.

I spent every evening for 4 weeks reading this forum whilst I waited for my eglu and chooks which were on order. I gained so much knowlege in those weeks, from reading what others had posted. So I knew about garlic powder, auboise, poultry spice, wing clipping, bedtime cuddles through the eggport, when to feed treats all just by avid forum watching.

So too right.......knowledge is power.

(And don't forget that any question - no matter how small - isn't silly as we've all been there).

thank you sooooo much for the reassurance that Im not totally bonkers!! We're off to hen party on Sunday to see an eglu in 'real life'(!) and then, bearing in mind the prudence thread,we'll decide one way or other if chooks are right for us.Hubby's a bit worried about the time they'll take up as they'll have to be watched while out free ranging and the garden isnt huge...My answer is with 5 cats,3dogs,budgies and a parakeet, 2 or 3 chooks isnt gonna make a huge difference!!
