Ms Tilytinkle
Hello whoever reads this post, My query is about ash. We have a log fire so i collect the ash & mix it with DE, sort soil etc although they do love the ash on its own. But as its been warm we haven't used the fire. Today my neighbour brough a bucket full of ash along for the chickens. I asked him if it was log ash & he said yes. Well it didn't look like log ash to me, so after he dumped it in the garden I thought i would investigate, firstly it felt totally different, in layers as opposed to flour like. Aha then i discovered the evidence . . . charred papers!!! Hmmmmmm so he's bringing along his paperwork that he burns telling me its wood ash. Please, my query being should the chickens dustbathe in paper ash or is it only wood ash? I am sure i read somewhere only wood ash, the paper will contain the remains, if any, of coloured ink, gloss etc as there were bits of the papers left to see. Hmmm "Ooops, word censored!"ody is answering, i know this sounds like a really dumb question but i am actually asking if there is a difference, concerned, ie. is it okay to use this ash as it does feel different & i'm sure someone said only wood ash is suitable. Many Thanks Ms Tillyhopesyou'reallenjoyingfathersdaysunday
