Troy
A question pls as I have a veloceraptor in our midst! Our broody and snooty wyandotte has finally been put into an old puppy crate on bricks, with some food and water. (She is in the roofed run with the others) I didnt have the heart to do it at first and for the past 2 weeks have taken her out of the nest box shut the door to the cube and waited for our dear lovely Lilly and Mo to 'let me know' that they need IN! Thankfully the hybrids and others are still growing and havnt got a clue! The odd peck of protest is fine from our Gwen, but come on- a calculated peck with a twisting of the skin is a bit much Gwen!! So I have to admit it felt a little good to be popping her in the crate this morning... Question I have is Do I leave her in there 24 hrs for the 3/4 days it takes?? and if so should I cover the crate at night to keep her warm? I've read a few threads here and someone posted a great pic of how to do it- thanks! but I'm unclear if she stays in this or moves back with the others at night?? The other 5 are all cuddling up to the crate at the moment and having a chat with Gwen. Cute! Many thanks Troy
Egluntyne
Leave her in all the time.....it should only be for a few days. Don't cover her up at night....at this time of year there won't be a problem. The whole idea is to bring her body temperature down. She'll be safe from predators in the run.
