4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

My naughtly Pekin Bantams don't seem to want to roost. They are quite happy getting cozy with each other on the floor. I've read somewhere that you shouldn't encourage young birds to roost because its not good for them (don't know what bit!). Any insight welcomed.

Don't know about age but I have just got two 14 week old ladies who do just that. They are happy nesting in the shredded paper, won't perch or roost on bars at all..

Their breastbones aren't fully developed therefore it could lead to deformities - though it didn't seem to hurt the 'first ever' chickens and who was there to stop them??

My 5mth olds prefer to 'nest' yet when they were 8 wks old they wanted to be grown up and roost everywhere and they're perfectly formed.

My bantams sleep piled up in the nest box.

 

When we first got them (they were quite young) they used to perch in the run a lot during th eday but they don't even do that now.
