crazychicken
have just gone out to empty the poo tray and found one of my hens sitting in the eglu on the roosting bars. She has just come thro a broody period and only just started laying yesterday and I thought she had had a relapse. In fact when I pulled the tray out I noticed x 2 poos with blood on the surface and also a spot of blood separately. No diarrhoea. infact now back in run and appears to be behaving ok. She doesnt appear to have laid either today. Has anyone any ideas what may be happening? Am very worried. Do chickens get piles?!

Egluntyne
Do chickens get piles?! Was it frank red blood, or just red-ish blobs in the poo? If so it might just be that she has shed a bit of her gut lining. Edited for typo Edited July 9, 2008 by Guest
