We had a disabled applicant for a teaching post a couple of years ago who insisted he had a right to an interview, and was most impolite in doing so. He wasn't actually qualified for the post - he couldn't have been legally employed - so an interview would have been a waste of everyone's time. When he phoned and was told why he would not be interviewed, he threatened to take us to a tribunal (which never happened; he must have realised he had no case). The legislation does a good job in ensuring disabled candidates get a fair chance at interview, rather than being screened out at the application stage because the employer incorrectly assumes they can't do the job due to their disability.
