rich0869
Hi, im back again for more help! Does anyone know if cats attack ducks? My indian runners will be ready to go outside in a few weeks and im not sure wether i need to put a roof on my duck run? There are 3 or 4 cats around the neighbourhood but i cant imagine they would attack as the ducks are getting big now. My neighbour has lived here 20 years and never seen any foxes but they will be closed up safe and sound in the Eglu after dark anyway so i dont really see foxes as an issue. My other worry is a bird of prey such as a hawk, have they been known to go for ducks? Cant say ive seen any but my neighbour has seen a couple in the past. Thanks Rich
Caroline
cats have been known to go for ducks. We've never had any problem though and there are a few around here. Hawks will take little ducklings as will magpies and herons but if they're a few weeks old they should be ok. they get so big so quickly!! Good luck!! rusky123
My 2 cats lurked in the duck pen and tried their luck a few times, but my runners saw them off. I am sure my 2 ginger fiends now lurk just hoping to catch a bird or squirrel after the duck food. They have been successful a few times!.
