kissinuk
Emptied the eglu tray last night and there were quite a few fleas on it jumping around. I'm presuming that there are also some on my chickens (but haven't checked yet). Anyone have any tips for getting rid of them? I have red mite powder but don't know if that works on fleas too (the stuff sold at Omlet that smells of aniseed. Any help gratefully received. Troy
I believe chicken fleas are calles sticktight fleas and are the smallest that we can see with the naked eye. I think they must be removed with a topical application called Pyrethrin?? Check with a poultry keeper. Can you see them around the head and neck feathers? They like to attach themselves to the skin of a hen and are very difficult to remove. Hope this helps Troy
