dave&sue
Hi No sooner than we introduce our ducks, Daisy and Gert to the forum, we lose Daisy. She passed away in the night. We had only had her for 2 years. No signs of injury or ill health. Couple of questions. Is it alright for Gert to live on her own for a while? Is it unusual for ducks to only live 2 years? If we did get another duck for Gert to play with does it have to be the same breed? Thanks Dave & Sue
Cate in NZ
I'm so sorry to hear about Daisy . At least it sounds like she didn't suffer, but still very hard to lose a pet. I am sorry though, I know next to nothing about ducks and would hesitate to offer any advice. Have you posted your question on the Practical poultry forum? You're more likely to get a quick answer from there as they have many more experienced duck owners amongst their forum regulars than we do. Lesley
Sorry to hear about Daisy - I think 2 years is a bit of a short life, but better short and happy I would wait to make sure that Daisy didn't have anything infectious and once you know Gert is OK then look for another duck, preferably one that is full grown.
