jos
Hi, one of my ex-batts ( I got them in May) is only producing eggs with absolutley no shell/no membrane. A couple of days age I found a complete egg in the nest box: as if it had just been broken prior to frying. No shell or membrane to be seen. Today I watched as she passed the white bit and then a few moments later the yolk. It seems to have been going on for a couple of weeks now. She is ok until an hour or so before she passes these "eggs" and perks up almost immediately afterwards. I have been putting limestone in their mash. The others seem to be laying fine. Should I be worried?
theherd123
It sounds like she is lacking in calcium and could do with more than just the limestone flour. You can get a liquid calcium supplement from the Domestic Fowl Trust, its called Davinova C and works wonders - i use it with my chooks when they produce eggs with no shell and it sorts them out Also ensure they have plenty of grit too
