We Went To The Chook Man Today . . .

Recommended Posts

We finally found our way to the Chook Man this afternoon. Surprisingly he is less than 5 miles from our house!

He has loads of different breeds ranging in price from £10 to £25 (and higher if you want exotic pairs!). I was disappointed to find that, of course, most of the ones I liked the look of were in the £25 price range!

He was really nice and let the kids hold the day old chicks and the TOday quail chicks. DD wanted to take the quails home! He siad he sell mostly day-olds and always takes back the boys if people don't them. He doesn't *refund* just *takes them*. The chicks were very tempting and I had to promise the kids that we would think about chicks sometime in the future when we had more experience.

Looking at what he had versus what I wanted I think I might end up with:

1 x Rhode Island Red

1 x Wyandotte BANTAM

1 x Welsummer BANTAM

1 x Buff Sussex

2 x Isa Browns

This may change because there were others there that I really liked the look of but didn't catch their breed and although I tried to take photos - I wont remember what they were until I am back there again.

I'm the same, there are a couple of breeders local to me and I don't know who to go to and then - which breeds to choose. I also started off with may 2 or 3 chooks and now I'm thinking 4, but the cube doesn't come until 8th September, so who knows how many I'll be up to by then!
