fluff
Hi guys, my new little partridge wynadotte has a very nasty gash on her head.Caused I think by my over exuberant cockerel Basil, I,ve checked her out and at first it just looked like the usual feather pulling and a bit of blood. But upon closer inspection its a gash/cut about 1 cm long that has piereced the skin so you can see her flesh underneath .Shes roosting now for the night, just want some tips....should she see a vet?........will it heal normally?.....we go away for 12 days tomorrow dinnertime and I have a great girl who is looking after my other animals etc, but don,t want to leave her if she needs some vet care or other treatment.Does she need stitches for instance ..............HELP! moochoo
Have another look tomorrow, if it looks like it's healing I'd leave it alone. At a push spray it with gentian violet to mask the blood, you don't want the other girls pecking it. Just make sure it's clean the last thing you want is an infection. If it's still an open wound it wouldn't hurt to take her to the vets.
