4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I got 3 hens 2 weeks ago and the bluebell starting laying the next day. We have had a small brown egg virtually daily off her. Since yesterday the sussex star has started laying as I have been having 2 eggs, including this morning when she started crouching and went completely tame.

Suddenly this afternoon whilst free ranging whilst i was in work my OH said the bluebell looked really uncomortable, her head was down and her neck scrunched up. Then there was lots of water coming from her vent followed by a soft egg. He said she perked up a bit then but is still not really herself. She is very quiet not really eating and doing lots of impressions of statues

 

Do i put this down to a temporary blip or should i look out for anything in particular?

Probably just a temporary blip in view of their being new to laying.

 

It sometimes takes a while for them to settle down.

I think blip too...... they can look hunched and off-colour when laying a softie. Softies do happen when they are getting into the swing of things.

When i opened them up today she was first out of the door at 100mph , clucking and straight for the pellets. Phew!

Lesson learned - do not miss their grit for a day or 2 thinking "it will be okay...."
