jimjams
Hi I have 4 chickens one of which was laying almost daily for w good few weeks in the nest box, two others look as though they are ready if not laying, crouching, very red, plae legs, hips a couple of fingers apart, no mites healthy grils who eat their pellets most days. One my blue opington doesnt look ready yet just starting to colour and wattles just starting to hang comb just creeping up. I have had no eggs now for 2 weeks, they free range most of the day as we are at home, they get locked in the run at night or when we go out. I have tried looking for eggs but can't find any I cant sneek to peek as they alwasy follow me in the garden and help weed and sit and forge near me if i move they move, even sneeking in the house now little beggers. Where do I start to look, or are they laying eggs at all? is it usual for them to stop? I was told they were about 5 months old when they came to live with us but I think they were younger, might be wrong though. I have tried to have a look but cant see them in the places I know they sit, and have made little nests they sit in, under the trees and bushes and even on my shingled area. Could they be burying them? Or maye wildlife? I do havea headgehog and squirrels that also live somewhere in the garden too... Any ideas??? Thank you
