Green Potatoes - but only on the outside. Safe to eat?

Recommended Posts

Sorry didn't know where to post.

I have bought a sack of potatoes from the Farm Shop today. Have just opened them to do some batch cooking and the skins are greenish. :x

When I have peeled them they look normal.

I have googled green potatoes - and all the articles say that they could be poisinous in large quantities, however they all imply that this is if the inside is green - which mine aren't.

Anybody help me out before I make humungous amounts of mash, wedges and chips?

:D

As far as I know potatoes are green when they aren't earthed up enough when they are growing so yes its a reaction to light levels.

For years I've just peeled off the green bits (and probably have eaten the odd slightly green one).

As yet no harm done.

I suspect there probably have to be significant quantities eaten
