Eggbound or broody?

Recommended Posts

Lucy has been laying for about 5 weeks. The last 2 days she has laid the two most humungous eggs I have ever seen. Today she has been on the nest box for about 5 hours! I have checked on her twice, her tail is right up in the air and she growls a bit. If i stay there she growls louder and then starts shouting bokuuuuuuk at me.

Should I leave her or make her get up? What should I check for?

edit - just read the FAQ and was sure she was broody, so i just went in and bodily removed her from the box and put her on the grass with the others. underneath her was a very warm egg belonging to henrietta! i have shut the pophole and she is free ranging quite happily with the others.hopefully that will be the end of it.
