Can anyone tell me if you can get slug pellets that are safe to use with free ranging chickens running around?

 

My garden is overrun with yukky fat slugs. I was cleaning the girls' eglu and when I took the grub feeder off the side to wash it, there was a huge disgusting slug stuck on to the inside (which I didn't see until I'd hooked my fingers onto it - YUK!!!).

Don't know??? But I can't think that there would be anything safe if it is designed to kill slugs.

 

Many moons ago BC (Before Chickens) I put crushed baked egg shells around my hostas and the slugs spear themselves on the sharp bits and die. Mine you, if I tried that now the egg shell would get eaten in seconds by my chooks. I give them baked egg shell in with their grit and they go mad for it.

 

Hubbie tips salt on slugs which kills them. He gets some sort of retribution from this when he's found they've slimed all over his lettuce.

Someone recommended Diatom recently as being very effective against slugs.
