the hopefulls
We're very very happy today is our 1st 2 egg day from our girls, but we only saw 1 of the girls coming out of the eglu, so my question today is . . . . . Can 1 chicken lay 2 eggs or do you think our girls took it in turns and laid 1 each? Either way we're so proud of our amazing chickens. Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations - well done those girls . It's not unheard of for one hen to lay 2 eggs in a day - one very early and one later on. My Maisie has twice done this in the last 10 days although the second one was shell-less both times . She's not laid the day after.
Steve.
Wilma did this, at 9am, then at noon. She layed the next day (but not the preceding day).

We got 2 softies on Sunday (the first with a yolk, the second like a small soft ball with no sign of a yolk), nothing on Monday then a much larger (hard shell) one yesterday. Was your next egg larger?
Ain't Nobody Here
Just checked the weights (I know, I'm very sad ). She seems to have laid a bigger than average egg, then a softie either the same day or the next (twice in a week). Don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to it .
