New version of Flubenvet is here at last!

Recommended Posts

It also appears that the new packs are weaker, as they are recommending re-dosing every 3 weeks or so! I can understand the need for a weaker dose on a more regular basis, but that makes it even more expensive!

I worry about that Snowy though - I understood that worms get resistant if you use the same product all the time. I think that would be a problem with Flub if using it regularly. I wonder if the 3 week thing is also similar to the advice I found on the 240g pack: to redose in 3 weeks if any presence of worms found?

Oh well these things are sent to try us!

My brain hurts!

Is it better to buy the old stuff at about £15ish for 240g or the new 1% stuff 60g for £15ish?

I dont know whether to go here for the new stuff...

will someone please clarify? I need to buy tonight.

Only just seen this so might be too late! The old stuff is the best value by miles as it costs about the same for a 60g tub as it does for a 240g tub. The situation is worse than this though because of the weaker strength of the 60g tub. You use 5 times more of the new 1% than was needed for the old 5%.

Not too sure if I am explaining this very well. :anxious: Basically you would need to buy 20 new 60g tubs to give the same amount of doses as the original 240g tub provided.

The 240g tub will last for years and the 60g one will last months!

Price I except is an issue, but I wouldn't get worried about the re-worming every 3+ weeks. If you look on their website with the old stuff they were recommending every 4 weeks - it is just on here and through vets we have said, as a preventative, every 4-6 months is more appropriate. Their every 4 weeks comes from cmmercial chicken flocks that you want to keep absolutely worm free.

The new stuff basically is more dilotuted and comes with a measuring scoop to make life easier when dealing with a few hens - the actual dose of the chemical the chickens get is unchanged & therefore just as effective.

From researching this, the new pack does 20kg of feed, the old pack does 200kg of feed.

The new pack costs more than the old pack.

Therefore the new pack is more than 1000% (that's ten times) the cost of the 240 gram / 2.5% pack per feed treated

What a rip off for poor unsuspecting Domestic Chicken Owners.

At the risk of being boring. Okay there is no risk.

The new Domestic pack would only worm my flock of 8 chooks twice before I'd have to buy another packet!

The original Gamekeeper pack'd do them more than 28 times!

I'm going to shut up about this now unless I get more encouragement

Oh, I encourage you Steve! I am outraged at the price and really want to make sure that everyone knows how economically awful the new version is.

Your calculations are half as bad as mine though! After inspecting the 240g tub, I think it is 2.5% strength not 5% as I originally thought??? I got my info off the net but I think it was wrong

Still a complete rip off.:twisted:
