This is my first post

I have had my girls about a year now and they appear to be just fine, they are active, eat well and bright eyed the also lay as often as they ever have, but when I picked them up at the weekend (not something I do often) they both had bald areas underneath toward the back of their bodies not actually on the vent but foward from there. The skin was not red or irritated and it was not raw in any way but I am concerned because I could see areas of skin and not feather.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

 

They have probably moulted a bit. I have a few who are looking a bit patchy in that region.

 

I'd check them over for lice and mites to be on the safe side.

Welcome to the forum and as Anne says it could be moult at this time of year, egg production slows too.

 

I also thought it may be an idea for you to get used to giving them a little check over on a regular basis so you recognise what's normal with your girls. You can also give a little check over for lice, which is really useful and they are easily treated.

 

Handling gets so much easier when you get used to it
