Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Much excitement today, as Crystal laid her first egg. Only problem was she sat on the nest for a while, and nothing happened but later laid her egg in the Eglu run! Prudence laid hers in the nest as she has been doing the last week. Can chickens smell where another chicken has laid an egg and think that it isn't their territory?

 

I'm hoping the next egg will be in the nesting box - it was tricky having to take the eglu apart to get to the egg! I do wish Omlet had put a hatch which could open in the side of the run.!!

 

Still this chicken business is great - I am completely hooked and spend so much time in the garden or watching the little devils! We are now down to £60.50 per egg - a bargain I say!
