freespiritbutterfly
I got my chickens on friday, they seemed ok, Hebe had a few sneezes but i just put it down to the fact that the man from omlet said they had just come from out of a barn. This morning I looked in the poo tray to find someone has runny poo. However could this just be nerves from the loud fireworks going off and the move or could it be that there a little under the weather. But now Florence has been sneezing this morning? Can anyone offer any advice. Thanks
Egluntyne
They very often have runny poos for the first few days after a move, as it unsettles them. It is probably nothing to worry about. If you have some Bokashi Bran to hand, a tablespoonful added to their dry pellets will help.
smanners
Mine were the same when they first came! The poos get more solid in a few days although you can then get some yolky ones as they get more mature and are getting ready to lay. You could get some citricidal (grapefruit extract) from health food shops (ie Holland and Barratt) or omlet sell it. Two/three drops added to their glug is enough (because it is bitter ) to help with sniffles etc. If they get a rattley chest you may need Baytril ( antibiotic) from the vet though. One of my girls did need treatment but 2 of them were absolutely fine after a few days. I think chickens are stressy ladies and take a bit of time to adjust when they leave their comfort zone It is hard at first not to get but it soon passes and you'll love keeping chickens. Enjoy your girls but beware the chicken bug doesn't bite or you will want............. more and more and more and more Glad you got the Flubenvet ok by the way. Hen Watch
I'm sure your girls will settle down soon as long as you keep a watchful eye over them. Mine pooped for England when they arrived but it settled down after 2 weeks.
