Moulting and wheezing

Recommended Posts

Hi

Beefy the speckledy is moulting at the moment, and she's really doing a good job of it bless her, she's quite oven ready. Today I noticed that she's breathing with a sort of wheezy noise. Is this common through a moult?

I gave her some sweetcorn and porridge and will give her some cat food in the morning. I give them the usual poultry spice/acv/citricidal/cod liver oil bits and bobs.

I'm going to flubenvet and redmite them tomorrow.

Their nest is dry and warm but she has been freeranging all day and I thought she's go inside if she was cold.

I'm asking as I'm a bit reluctant to rush to the vet, when we had 3 chooks a trip to the vet (which seems to cost £80 a pop) was one thing but with 14 I am having to be a bit more practical.

Thanks in advance!

She may just have the sniffles due to being a bit run down as she's moulting. I don't really panic about my girls having runny noses as they tend to get over it in a week or so without any trips to the vet.

You are giving her all the supplements you can so I would just let her body fight it off.
