Janty
We have never had a problem with mice in the garden. In fact I saw the second one ever today....just before Emma the brahma caught it, killed it and ate it right in front of us. If I hadn't watched the whole thing myself, I wouldn't have believed it. I have seen Sporty Spice eat a mouse last year but I presumed that it was one that the cats had left for us.
Scramble
and I thought it was bad enough that mine ate baby slugs! then again, a mouse is probably the same size as my chooks heads At least they're cleaning up the problem for you! Charlie_uk
Ha ha I thought it was just mine that were killers! We had a mouse go into the Eglu run a week after we got the chickens and Sage ran at it, pecked its eyes out and proceeded to tear the little thing to shreds By the time we got the run open there was nothing left!! jomaxsmith
My Lily is a good mouser. She caught one recently when the boys and I were in the garden. Thinking it was a good life lesson for the boys I left her with it. Then they started watching her _very_ closely as she was looking for somewhere to put it down and eat it. I then realised that if they saw her eat a mouse, they would probably never ever eat an egg again so I had to act brave and corner the hen, grab the dead mouse by the tail and (after a brief tug of war ) toss the mouse over the fence into the field behind. They once tried to corner a robin that had flown into the eglu run but luckily the door was open and, unlike my stupid hens, the robin was smart enough to find the exit and escape!
