Baggins
I wonder if anyone can help please ..... Our original Omlet girl, Pepper (now over 3 years old), has had a dreadful moult this year - her first ever. Not only does she look dreadful but she is behaving rather strangely .... doing a very odd impersonation of John Cleese's Monty Python walk, and often walking backwards with her neck down towards the ground. In all other ways, she is behaving normally - eating, drinking, preening, scratching ..... Any ideas, please?
Gamebird
Send her for an audition to the Ministry of Silly Walks? Sorry, I don't know a lot about moulting chickens but it could be her hormones are playing about and making her do funny things. If she is still eating and drinking and generally looking happy I probably wouldn't worry too much. I know that protein is good for moulting chickens in the form of a tin of tuna to give her a bit of a boost and help her regain her duvet.
