Guest
these are sold as jars for bath salts and creams but do you think they would be okay to use for home made paté? I know the glass will be okay but it's the lid I was bit dubious about. Does aluminium that comes into contact with food have to be specially treated or anything? http://www.justasoap.co.uk/catalog/wide-neck-straight-sided-jar-200ml-pack-p-528.html
Minnie the Moocher
Wasn't there a scare about using aluminium pans for cooking food at one time? I think I'd look further into that. Nice containers though
Guest
I've had a think and because they are for pate (which isn't acidic) and there will be a layer of butter on top of the pate to sort of seal it in, I'm going to go for them. I could always cut a disc of greaseproof paper and pop that inside the lid to be on the safe side. Sooooooooooo, I've ordered them
Yorkshire Pudding
I think that'll be fine - as I remember it the aluminium pan problem relates to acidic foods cooked in aluminium pans. The acid reacts with the aluminium and small amounts dissolve into the food. If you were making rhubarb jam I would worry, but not with pate! Guest
thanks YP. I've just realised they're not glass bit late now as I've ordered them, but PET can be recycled
