not sick but not well

Recommended Posts

In July of this year we got two more chickens to add to our exisiting two. One of our old girls (a Pepperpot) stooped laying about this time, was a bit peaky on two occasions, and moulted. The thing is, she hasn't laid since, her comb has turned pale again, and she's much smaller and lighter than the remaining three. She's about 18 months old now, and is otherwise perky and behaving competely normally (as are the others). I worm regularly, and there's no sign of mites or lice.

Would it be an overreaction to take her to the vet? Has anyone else any experience of chickens stopping laying completely whilst still quite young?

Advice welcome!
