We have recently noticed on our house Rabbit, Monty, that he has several raised black patches on his back, about 1cm across and no fur in these areas, as well as flaky skin.

 

I really do not like the look of it although he seems his usual self and does not seem to pay any attention to it. We are getting him to the vet asap but just wondered if anyone has heard of such a thing.

 

We had a scare a month or so ago when he managed to find a power cable and bit through it. There was a flash and bang and he legged it, his whiskers on one side were singed but he again was fine in himself and happily allowed us to groom him, he ate and drank as normal. He had a lucky escape but I keep wondering if there could be a link.

 

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I haven't come across this although from what you've described it's more likely to be a skin condition than related to the power cable incident (one of mine got away with that trick a few times too )

 

Best take Monty to the vet. Let us know how you get on.

The vet advised that she thinks it is a parasite problem. She applied some ointment and when we got home called to say it was the wrong one so we have to take him back tomorrow for the right one!!

 

Sounds like that should do the trick but I will update you in a couple of weeks or so!!

Sounds a bit like walking dandruff to me (google it for info and pics!) in which case an injection is the more common treatment - usually needs repeating two or three times. If the ointment doesn't clear it up, go back for a second opinion.
