KAZAROO Posted January 6, 2009 Share Posted January 6, 2009 I'm usually up before it is light at the moment- So as I didn't want to risk the girls getting eaten by our local Mr Sly; I had only been allowing them into the hen house Mini run until it was light; but they were making so much noise early in the morning that my elderly neighbor complained. I was ALSO trying to think of a solution to help keep the girls warm as it has been so cold of late( mine are in a wooden hen house; so maybe a bit warmer); so I had been experimenting with all kinds of things to help keep the house dark and keep the warmth in.... Then I found my old wellies!!!! I made two flaps one for the run/house entrance and one for the hen house window; tacted them on and they have both worked perfectly... all I do to hold the one on over the entrance is use a bamboo cane to keep it close..... It stays dark until I am ready to let them out- thus keeping them lovely and quiet until its a reasonable hour Hope it helps some body!!!!
