HELP Is it normal to moult this much?

Recommended Posts

Help,

Rose is moulting profusely!!

is it normal to have so much feather loss... at first we weren't so worried about her as she had stopped laying... and a preivous post said this was normal.

She seems fine in herself, eating, (destorying the garden - ha ha) - but everytime she moves she loses more feathers

Can anyone advise whether this much feather loss is normal?

Pics below. The one in the kithcen with all the feathers on the floor, is because I tried to pick her up and she flapped about a bit, meaning loads of feathers came off!!! eek.

Many thanks

from Worried Marc

Yes, perfectly normal.

I have had my Eglu runs look like explosions in a pillow factory before now.

As long as she is eating and drinking normally I shouldn't worry too much.

Normally they moult around November-ish, but I have one at the moment who is looking like your girl.

It might be worth checking her carefully for lice and mites etc, but it does look like a normal moult.
