wombatally
I currently sell my eggs and proceeds are going into a charity pot (a friend and I are going to Cambodia next year to do a month of voluntary community development projects). Now I don't do things like run so that's out as a way of raising funds! I would like to start raising my own meat birds but need dual purpose breeds so that I can keep some of the girls as layers and sell the extra girls as POL to others. This is how I plan to top up my charity fund! I plan to hatch a few 'batches' over spring/summer. I am going to start with possibly Light Sussex and Marans as the boys will make good table birds (for our own consumption only!) and they are popular breeds to sell. I'm also thinking of a few pekins too so that we can breed our own (our trio currently don't lay). I'm interested in anyone else's experience of doing this - is it easy to sell your birds, where to advertise them, is it costly to do etc. Thanks in advance Alison
