One_Box
My two ex-batts obtained on 31/01/2008 have scaly leg mite which I have been treating with Vaseline for the last three days. They have some raised scales on their feet but no incrustations. They seem happy enough and are getting stronger day by day. They free range with my other three girls most days and I'm thinking of moving them all in together this weekend. I'm unsure how long I need to keep the Vaseline treatment up for to kill the mites on Nora and Dora and whether it is safe to move them in with the others (who are in excellent health). I'm a bit confused at the moment so would appreciate any advice you may be able to offer
Egluntyne
Vaseline is not very effective tbh. **Xeno 200** * Not licensed for use on poultry in UK will do the trick nicely. It is an Ivermectin based product. It also is effective against other parasites, both internal and external.
One_Box
Thanks for the info Egluntine and the link. I guy I know uses Benzyl Benzoate but I don't know how effective it is. What do you reckon on moving the Batts in with the others BTW
Egluntyne
I'd treat the scaley leg mite with the Xeno 200 *not licensed for use in Poultry in UK first and then take the intros slowly, no rather than pitching 'em in. Articles **here**.
likeastar--x
I was going to say, I got Ivermectin from my vets for my two bantams who had scaley leg, but I was not prepared to seperate them in cat cages for 4 weeks while they were being treated, so my vet gave me enough to do them all at the same time. You just put 2 drops between the shoulder blades once a week for 4 weeks.
One_Box
Thanks for your replies, I'll talk to my vet re Ivermectin and see where I go from there.
